Several months ago I wrote an article about how we planned our around the world trip for 4 1/2 months beginning in September 2003. This article provides some additional insight into the details of that planning exercise.
This was no ordinary vacation; instead our Cosmos (around the world) journey with our kids was a lifestyle change that lasted over four months, from September 2003 to January 2004.
Our Rajasthan journey has taken us to Jodhpur – the last major city before reaching Pakistan (the border is less than 200 miles away). Jodhpur is known as the “Blue City”. It has this name because of the paint color used on so many of the buildings.
We are now in Brisbane, Australia. To get here from Delhi was quite an adventure, with three flights and the total elapsed time taking 29 hours from hotel to hotel.
After leaving Australia, we stopped in Brunei for 36 hours before continuing to Bangkok. This country, on the island of Borneo, is one of the wealthiest in the world.
We just arrived in the sultanate of Negara Brunei Darussalam (which translated means the Nation of Brunei, the Abode of Peace). Brunei is a quirky place located 1,800 miles northeast of Darwin, Australia on the island of Borneo.
We are currently on an all-night train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. This is the sixth night we will spend on a train during our journey.
We have now been home for a little over four weeks. Lauren and Kristen have gone through all the questions that were sent and answered them.
