With our trek in the Himalayas over, we made our way back to the airport. On the way to Delhi, we saw Kanchenjunga from afar (the third highest mountain in the world) as well as Everest from the plane window.
Costa Rica: Drake Bay and Cano Island
We had some delays in reaching Costa Rica, but once we arrived there we enjoyed our time at Drake Bay, on the Pacific Ocean coast. We spent time relaxing in our cabin on the beach as well as taking a day trip to Cano Island, where we hiked and snorkeled.
Costa Rica: Corcovado National Park and San Jose
The highlight of the second part of our Costa Rica trip was a day trip to Corcovado National Park, which provided some great hiking and nature viewing opportunities amidst the rain forest and ocean beaches.

Our Rajasthan journey has taken us to Jodhpur – the last major city before reaching Pakistan (the border is less than 200 miles away). Jodhpur is known as the “Blue City”. It has this name because of the paint color used on so many of the buildings.
Cosmos: Brunei
After leaving Australia, we stopped in Brunei for 36 hours before continuing to Bangkok. This country, on the island of Borneo, is one of the wealthiest in the world.

We are currently on an all-night train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. This is the sixth night we will spend on a train during our journey.
Cosmos: Northern Thailand
After taking an all-night train to Chiang Mai, we spent a couple of days exploring the many temples in town and enjoying the night markets and food. We then took a public bus and taxi to Tha Ton, near the border with Myanmar.

We are currently on a bus back to Chiang Mai. We’ve spent the last week in the north near where the boarders of Thailand, Myanmar (Burma) and Laos meet.
Japan: Tokyo and Nikko
After arriving in Japan, we spent the first three days in Tokyo. We visited several of the city sights, including the zoo, Ginza and Shinjuku. We also took a day trip to Nikko, which was a two hour train ride each way.

We arrived in Tokyo at approximately 2:45 pm on Sunday. We changed some money, activated our train pass and took the one hour ride into the city. We are staying at one of the three youth hostels in central Tokyo.
