Uruguay was the last country that we visited during our South American trip. Here we spent time in the historic city of Colonia del Sacramento and in the capital, Montevideo.
Darren and I are traveling in South America for two weeks, visiting Argentina , Paraguay , Brazil and Uruguay . Our first stop is Buenos Aires , which we reached via a 10-hour overnight flight from Dallas.
We spent last weekend in Portland, Oregon, as Darren ran in the Portland Marathon on Sunday morning. We had never been there before and I didn’t have a lot of time to research what to see and do. I thought I would use this as an opportunity to rely heavily on my iPhone for assistance.
Stirling, our second stop in Scotland, is of great strategic and historic importance. We spent our time visiting the castle, old town and the William Wallace Monument.
We are now in Stirling, which is one of the most historical spots in Scotland. The strategic location of the city, between Southern Scotland and highlands to the north led to many famous battles fought between the Scottish and English in the late 1200’s / early 1300’s.
On June 10th Sandy and Lauren are going to Scotland for 10 days. Our itinerary calls for stops in four cities, where we plan to mix historic sights with the natural beauty of the area.
Death Valley National Park is known for being remote and harsh. We took a 4×4 vehicle trip in April 2006 that packed in many of the iconic sights of Death Valley with 270 miles of off-road travel to the most remote and varied parts of the park.
We spent the first day of our 4×4 off-road trip through Death Valley National Park in the south side of the park. After visiting Saratoga Springs, we joined the main road to see Artists Palette, Badwater from Dante’s Peak and Zabriskie Point.
