Why Travel?

We recently returned from a two week trip to South America, visiting Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. It was a tough journey, probably the most adventurous trip in several years that we have taken. I couldn’t help feeling at one point in the trip, however, that maybe I was getting too old for this.

Scotland: Aviemore

After flights from the US to Manchester, England, we made our way into Scotland on different four trains before arriving in Aviemore. We were able to enjoy a nice hike in the national park and an afternoon walk and dinner in Inverness later that day.

Scotland: Stirling

Stirling, our second stop in Scotland, is of great strategic and historic importance. We spent our time visiting the castle, old town and the William Wallace Monument.

Scotland: Fort William

We spent three days in Fort William enjoying several outdoor activities, including hiking and boat cruising on a lake. We also took a day trip by train and ferry to the Isle of Skye.

Just Watched Michael Palin’s New Europe DVD

We just finished watching the New Europe seven hour DVD series that Michael Palin did in 2006 – 2007. The series covers travels in 20 countries, ranging from Turkey to Romania to Poland to the former Yugoslavia. Boy, was I surprised and greatly entertained.
